This test was designed to help detect if a primary-school child feels that they have received negative evaluations from significant others (peers, teachers, parents) about their reading.

There are three different versions of the NeST, which all come in PDF format:

- NeST-C (Child Report)
- NeST-P (Parent Report)
- NeST-T (Teacher Report)

There are currently no norms for the NeST tests. However, any statement that the child believes is true may provide some insight into their own perceptions about whether they receive negative feedback about their reading from significant others, and who those people may be.
